On a trip to Seattle on October 1, 2016, I visited the Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds, 50th Anniversary exhibition at the Sci-fi Museum which is part of the Experience Music Project Museum (EMP). While there I took a series of photos of the D’deridex Class Romulan Warbird.
By request over at the SciFi Model Action forums, I am posting the photos here as reference for other modelers (and Trekkers).
This is the original filming miniature used in Star Trek: The Next Generation, 1988-1994. and is from the Collection of Adam and Leslie Schiender.
Photography Notes
These where shot with a Sony SLT-A65V mirror digital SLR with a 3.5-5.6/18-55 SAM zoom lens with just the display case lighting, which was not a color balanced light and fairly low-level lighting. I did the best I could to white balance the color in Photoshop, using the white lettering of the signs as well as the table surface within the display case as a white reference. The model was also behind a glass case, so some reflections of exit signs and things in the rest of the display hall can show up in the shots.
The images are uncropped but reduced to 3840 x 2560 pixels, which is 64% of the camera’s original image resolution of 6000 x 4000 pixels. Though because of the low lighting level, the full resolution images do not carry much more detail than is present in these reduced size ones shown here. That said if you would like the original uncolor-corrected images, please contact me and I can send the raw image files to you via WeTransfer.
